Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is a famous Indian actress, who gained popularity for her part in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun and Beta Saajan. In the late 80s, she began her acting career and was a hit with her role of Tezaab where she co-starred with famous actor Anil Kapooor. The next film she acted in, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she started learning dance at an early age. When she was a teenager she started acting, but suffered through a number of years due to the fact that her early films failed. The actress gained fame and was one of India's top movie actresses. Following her marriage, she took some time away from performing until she returned. She recently was an important player in Gulaab Gang about Indian women. Dixit has been nominated 15 times for Filmfare Awards. She won eight of them. Dixit was also awarded her Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. Her social work sector is well known.
